ST50 ST60 Compatability

You have two issues. The first is the fittingof the new ST60 instrument in you ST50 SeaTalk chain. The second is the SeaTalk compatability. The transducers for the ST50 and ST60 instruments are the same. Both the SeaTalk and the transducer connection will be different. The ST60 SeaTalk connection will be the newer flat (half moon) connectors. The ST50 instruments have the round SeaTalk connectors. These round connectors are a mating pair. You will need to make some modifications to fit the ST60 instruments: 1. Cut off the round ST50 transducer connectors (on the transducer side) and crimp on spade connector. The back of the ST60 instrumets are color coded and the individual transducer wires need to be connected to the spade terminals on the back of the ST60 instruments, color for color. The spade connectors are not an ordinary size (1/8" x 1mm) and are available through us as part number NN-004. 2. You will also need some adapter cables if the ST50 instrument you are replacing is in series with other ST50 instruments. We make two adapter cables that are 6 inches long and have the flat connectors on one end and the round connectors on the other. The part numbers for these adapters are D187 and D188. The D188 adapter has the locking collar and the D187 does not. 3. The bulkhead mounting hole is larger on the ST60 instruments. The hole size for the ST60 instrument is 90mm (slightly larger that 3.5") and the ST50 instrument hole size is 2 inches. The ST60 display has a curved bottom on the facia and is .2 inches taller than the ST50 series instruments. Also, the software version of your ST50 Speed or ST50 Tridata Instrument need to be V9 or V10 respectively. You can access the software version of the instrument by holding in the two keys on the left for 6 seconds. This will ensure that any speed data will smoothly transfer over to your new ST60 Multi.

Thanks Bill, but...

I wasn't clear I'm adding an instrument not replacing one. I suspect that makes it easier as all I'll need to do is connect to the end of a chain and away I go..... right? The software version notwithstanding. Scott
