Can anyone tell me how this muffler installs in the boat. It has a raised 2" fitting on one end and a lower 2" fitting on the other. It is a Naqua silencer muffler but it came with no directions. I have searched and found no equals.
My thought was the raised port goes to the stern outflow.

Just looking around it seems that the flow direction should be in at the low point (on the right in your picture) and out at the high point on your Nauqua. Here is a link with a couple of diagrams:

One thing that seemed to be in common is that the top of the muffler should be at least 12" below the exhaust manifold to prevent water back flow. It then seems that the muffler is completely full of water to operate effectively. From the drawings I can see where water could back flow if the engine isn't running and the starter motor was engaged long enough to fill the line to the top of the hose loop. That's why they recommend shutting off the seacock if extended cranking is required.

BTW, I reinstalled my exhaust hoses on my repaired water lift muffler yesterday. If you haven't installed these hoses before, I recommend seacock lube to make the job a lot easier. In my opinion it is far more effective than hose lube.
