I saw a post back on another site dated 2011 with regards to a mod made to the main furling line to the worm. The guy added a Pennant to the block which moves it away from the Boom and allows it to float. You mentioned that you were going to give it a try. Did you? Did it make much of a difference?

I pulled the whole worm assy and did a good cleaning. Also installed a new line. Haven't had any problems with the line wrapping properly since so I didn't feel the need to do the mod.

I see that mod pop up from time-to-time on the GoogleGroups Beneteau forum and it seems to be popular with the salt water folks where the in-haul line tends to swell due to their funny water. I gotta say that being on fresh water seems to help us avoid quite a few boat issues.

Unforunately ... our water tends to get kinda stiff for a couple months when they are still sailing.

I was just curious if it made any difference.

It looks like it reduces the angle that the line enters the worm at.

An interesting fix , but as you state, we're fresh water guys.

What is the process for getting "the worm" assembly taken apart? I would like to do that as well.

If your's is the same as mine, I have attached some pictures to show what is involved. Z-Spars also has a write-up somewhere.

One thing to watch for is when you dis-assemble the unit , don't lose any of the bearings. They will fall out and roll away
