MSD w/conventional holding tank

I'm sure this question has been answered many times. I searched and couldn't find it, so here goes again. I plan to install a Lectra-San unit along with a conventional holding tank (for zero discharge areas). My question has to do with configuration. Should the conventional tank be piped so as to go around the MSD, or is it acceptable to pipe the MSD discharge either to the thru-hull or the conventional tank by a y-valve. That way, you're storing treated sewage in the conventional tank. Thanks for any advice.

Either way will work

However, sending treated waste to the tank will not make it legal to dump the tank inside the "3 mile limit." Nor does guarantee that the tank can't produce any odor. The Lectra/San reduces bacteria count to <5/100 mililiter, but only one of the little buggers has to survive and multiply in the tank to create a whole new population of zillions very quickly, especially in summer heat. So regardless of which way you decide to plumb it, you'll have the same tank maintenance issues.
