I picked up a few dirty marks on the new main sail and thought that a Mr. Clean Magic Eraser might be worth trying to clean these relatively small areas on the sail. Has anyone tried one? (Darcron)

They are great for boat cleaning in general but have never tried on a sail.

Lint rollers are also a great cleaning tool.

The cleaner is an abrasive. I would seriously reconsider using it on a sail.
A bit of Ivory soap will go along way, why deliberately scratch the sail?

Never used it on sails, but it absolutely works great for removing black diesel soot from stern.

The Magic Eraser is absolutely amazing on hard surface because it is a micro abrasive, maybe even nano abrasive. It probably doesn't make sense on fabrics because it will probably be ripping one tiny filament at a time. I don't know, I'm just putting my two sense in.

Here's a nickle's worth. Who wants to bet that in 5 years they pull Magic Erasers off the market amoungst a flurry of law suits . . . cancer, alzheimers (sp?), lumbago, colorblindness and the choking death of a Jack Russel Terrier named Max?

Just bought a new batch of them. The wife uses them all the time but never tried on fabric.

I first saw these at the Atlantic City Boat Show back in February:

http://www.wipeouteraser.com/

They appear identical to the Magic Eraser with the addition of the blue scotch-brite looking stuff on the back. Apparently the backing keeps them from falling apart like I have found the ME tends to do when used on non-skid deck areas.

I bought 2 - 2 packs at the show and used them this spring. Worked so well I went to the website & bought ten more 2 packs.

i have heard female type people recommend "shout" to get stains out of clothes. maybe that would work.

Mr. Clean Magic Eraser is the tool for cleaning up the rubber rubrail on many 70s vintage Pearsons. I used to have to use cleaner wax and a lot of elbow grease to get that clean, but one or two swipes with the ME does the trick now. It also gets surface rust off the stanchions and bases (I follow up with wax after). I love that thing.
