Has anyone moved the batteries from the lockers behind the back bunks to maybe up under the galley seats. I'm going to be leaving my boat at the marina this summer and so I'll be hauling my batteries back and forth to my house to charge them.Jason
Relocating my batteries to under the cabin seats was one of my first projects and it really made life much easier. Since I always take my battery home to keep it fully charged, the access to it was so much easier under the seat. Also, it think the weight distribution, in the center of the boat , is much better. I put three pictures in the photo forum. Do a search under H260's and look under the title "Change Battery Location on a H260". Good Luck. Bob
I have a 240 with only one battery. Its location is a real pain to get to. I use a solar panel to keep it topped off. It seems to work well. Beats the heck out of toting batteries home.
Jason,I moved my batteries on my H26 all the way forward under the V-berth, because the stern is always too low in the water. (Even Hunter's advertising photo's have folks scattered accross the forward decks so the stern will not be dragging.) I made a custom fit plywood mounting board to strap them to and glued it in with 5200. I used really heavy cables to bring the power back to the board. Now about SOLAR. Why not? My panel hangs off the stern rail above the tiller. It is trouble free. Get a panel and regulating unit and walk back to your car after sailing thinking about how much fun that was, instead of worrying about whether acid is getting on your clothes. You deserve this! Take it as an early birthday or Christmas present that you can enjoy all summer long. Father's Day?Cap'n JimGrizzly Bear
To get away from having to have the batteries in a place that you cn check the water I put in gel batteries. I was able to put an second on its side next to the factory location. I leave them in in the winter as well and they charge up fine in the spring. They cost more but the convience is worth it.ct
