Traveler move

I looked at doing the same thing to allow room for a Bimini on my Cat25. Garhauer Marine(www.garhauermarine.com) supplys most of the parts needed to do this. But take in mind that the cabin top may not be built for a traveler. I do know someone on the Catalina 25 web site has done this but you have to be a member to look at thier Tech pages! After I looked at all the pros and cons I bought a Cat30 with a bimini Good Luck.

Correct me if I's wrong but doesn't the 25 have a pop top? If that is the case would the top have the stability and strenght for the travler?

Think before you leap

You can get all the supplies you need and it probably isn't all that hard. However, consider the effect on the way the boat sails. If you move the traveler forward, you are increasing the amount of "pull" required because you are decreasing mechanical advantage. Sure, it's convenient to have the damn traveler out of the way, but it probably isn't efficient. Why not work your bimini (which is, after all, only a convenience) around your traveler (which is, after all, a working part of the boat)?
