Hi, Attempting to mount t-track (drill and tap) on two piece furling mast and find aluminum tube riveted to inside of mast about every 10'. Not actually being used for any wires or cables but concerned it will interfere with screws mounting track. Don't have time or inclination to down mast at this point. Any experience or suggestions are appreciated. Thank you, Vin

If I understand your question correctly, the screws for the T Track will be in the aluminum tube? I think the tube would protect the halyards from the (Sharp?) screw heads.
If possible, I would use machine screws just long enough to go through the track and mast section.

Thanks, I don't believe the aluminum tube is a Seldon feature. More likely a Hunter add on. It's purpose appears to be as a cable run for mast mounting the radar. All other wires, cables are either loose in the main body of mast or wire runs partitioned off on either side of aft portion of furling pocket. My issue is that the tube, not particularly secure as riveted about every ten feet and connected to the front of the mast will interfere with tapping and screws to add track directly opposite on outside. That is, somewhat loose tube will push back from tap, not getted threaded and then interfere with full seating of screws. Switching to shorter screws should help.

This. I added a pad eye for a whisker pole and didn’t want to have the screws protrude into the mast just because I don’t know exactly where they’d be in relation to the halyards and wiring. I made sure to select screws that were only long enough to barely go through the mast. With the pad eye I had a little more flexibility because I was able to add an extra washer to pad the length, but I bet you could still either find perfect length screws or grind some down to match.

Yes, am ordering shorter screws and will tailor them to avoid bottoming out on the tube riveted inside, Thanks
