I would like to add radar to my 33.5.I have heard pros and cons about mounting it on the mast.Has anyone heard of a mast mount effecting the way the boat sails or handles.Any info on this subject would be appreciated.

Effects radar more than boat

As I understand it, the variable is radar performance, as opposed to boat handling. I had mine mounted using a gimbled mount on the mast - worked quite well. Although others swear by the aft-mounted units. We've got a new product that allows mounting to the backstay (see the Emporium for details). I don't know much about it, personally, but it also has received good reviews.

radar mount

I have a radar unit mounted on the mast and it work very well. I think you will find out the higher the better [within reason] mine is below the spreaders and never has been a problem with the sail getting hung up on it.
