All, I am looking for advice on how to mount deck chocks for my spinnaker pole.

I have ordered the stainless ones from Forespar.

My boat (First 47.7) has teak decks. Someone has suggested just using screws. I have always bolted stuff like this through the deck, but seems like overkill. The spinnaker pole is very light, and so won't put much load on the fittings. 4 fasteners per chock.

Ideas? Screws with lots of bedding compound?

Thanks.

Have you considered using stanchion chocks? Seems that trying to screw into a nice deck may be counterproductive.

The pole is too big for any of the versions that go on the stanchions. Those are more geared towards whisker poles I think as the biggest I could find is for a 3.5" diameter pole and this pole is 5 or 6" in diameter.

Thanks.

Boat that size, casual sailing, the best way to store is up the mast.

If you enter a race, don't store it that way, put the ring low and leave the pole down and angled toward the bow stem. Thats the way the 367 fleet does it... the headsail tacks right over it.

Our boat has a Leisure Furl boom, and which is great but makes it impossible to mount the pole on the mast as the furling drum is on the front side of the mast at the gooseneck.

Last year, and we kept it on the car (pin mount, not a ring) and the bow pulpit. Just makes it cluttered on the foredeck for anchoring and docking.
