Mountiing a GPS on a swing arm in cabin door area

Hi everybody, I am now the proud owner of Sail # 1282. I owned #1213 in Madison Wi and I am now retired in Port Charlotte Fl. After almost two years of having a WETA and a Laser and not getting to sail the WETA much because it took so long to rig and unrig I now have the combination I had up North. My question, has anyone installed a GPS and mounted it on a Ram Mount inside the Cabin near the Cabin door and if you have how involved was the wiring and attachment?

The PO of our 2006 Capri 22 mounted his instruments (Depth/Knot) on a nice wood "Hinge" arrangement on the side of the Companion Way. I assume he made it, I'll try to attach pictures next week.
