Motor Tilting

I was wondering if anyone had any tips on modifying one's outboard for easier tilting. It isn't that it is difficult on my H26 to tilt per se -- but I kind of hate leaning over to do while I am steering -- esp. if there is a bit of wind and/or chop going. I saw a boat that had rigged a pully system to the top of the outboard so that the guy could simply pull and clamp. Seemed like an ok design, but it got me to thinking about the different ways it could be done. An electric tilt would be best, but . . .

Go for trim and tilt

I know that the cost is high but when I first got a 260 we had a standard outboard on the back. That lasted there about one week. I replaced it with a Yamaha 8hp 4 stroke electric start with remote and of course it has trim and tilt. Makes life very easy even more so after I made a connection rod attached to the rudder with a quick release set up. The cost? Well I just bought one a couple of weeks ago for one of my another yachts. About $3500.00aus.

Yes, but . . .

That does sound quite good, but awfully expensive. I guess I was hoping that someone out there had a cheap idea! :) Michael
