I have a Hunter 18.5 with a Johnson 3 HP 2 cycle no reverse. I own a Suzuki 9.9 HP 4 cycle. The Suzuki weighs 120 lbs. Is this engine to heavy and have to much torque for the Hunter?

I would stick with the 3hp, 2 cycle or something of similar nature.
A 9.9 4 stroke is a heavy engine, and in fact they are too heavy for my O'Day 25 without upgrading the transom and engine mount. I would venture to guess that it would be overkill on your boat, but you can always to a dry test to see if it will actually fit.
