Motor shaft length

I just bought a Hunter 18.5, and I need to buy an outboard for the boat. I am not sure whether I need a short shaft or long shaft motor. Does anyone know which one to use. Thanks.

Use the long shaft

I am currently using a regular (short) shaft. If I ever replace the motor, it will definitely be with a long shaft.
