Motor requirements

I already own a Mercury 60hp Outboard motor. I use it on a 15 foot fishing boat. Will this type of motor be compatable with the Mac 26X and M? Does the length of the motor have to longer than on a power boat?

60hp should be fine if under 320 lbs.needs to be 20" length (long shaft), although nearly all 60hp's are a minimum 20" in lower unit length.

i have a yamaha 60hp on mine.The service manual for my motor emphasizes that the anti cavitation plate needs to be even with the bottom of the boat. If it is too low you will have drag and if it is mounted too high you will have cavitation.I would expect that would be the same case for yours.Good luck.
