I have just purchased a new inflatable and small outboard motor. I would like to attach the motor to my rail system when not in use. Is anyone aware of a good rail mount system for the 280..the ones I have seen will not work because of the stern rail seats.

Make Your Own Rail Motor Mount

I am sure if you look at your situatuion long enough, you will be able to make your own out board motor mount. Using either teak or mahogony (or other hard wood)you can mount the wood piece using the appropriate sized SS "U" bolts. Paint it with Sikkens Cetol. Look at commercial ones availalbe on-line and get some ideas. When you can't buy what you want then the next best option is to custom make it yourself. Good Luck!

me too

I too have bought a new inflatable and obm. Now thinking hard to mount the obm. I've a SS arch but the there's only 1 horizontal bar suitable and no vertical. Will probably fab a long U-bolt and sandwich a "stand-off" piece between the bar and the chopping board (asia we use strong wooden chopping board for the kitchen). The lower part of board I've to fashion a tie-off to somewhere (side bar of the arch?) so that the board/obm won't swing.

Use Plastic

WM has a white plastic OB mount that is good and than add a plastic or SS support. I would not use wood, this topic was just discussed in this forum with some good ideas. Nick
