Motor Mount Rusty

I found a rear motor mount with rust and the silver paint laying below. Is there anyone else with this problem ?

I was wondering about wire brushing it, cleaning the area and then putting Rustoleum paint on it. Any comments ? Thanks.

Inspect the mount(s) for signs of bulging and distortion or perishing of the rubber. If there is none then cleaning and painting would do it. Any idea how old they are?

The paint may be flaking off from the engine and I would not brush any of the rubber mounts with a wire brush.

I had 2 both starboard side engime mounts rusted due to sea water splash from leaking raw water pump. Removed both mounts (using scissor jack on under engine), brush away all rust and repainted and put them back. Take care not to adjust the lower nut (engine alignement nut). Good as new.
