Today I removed the motor mount from my 89 h23, I wanted to clean up the old caulk and figured it would be best to just remove it ,the motor mount itself, is metal, I think, not sure in any event, part of the mount ,is wood, it is like an insert, on the side of the mount where it mounts to the transom, this wood was moist and shows some signs, of rot, so , why is this part of the motor mount wood, is it so there is wood against the fiberglass, and secondly , what would everyone suggest as far as fixing the rotten wood, ? thanks Mike B o
