MIke, Hi. Welcome to the sites. I have a question about installing one of the motor lift kits on my boat. I have a Catalina 25, and pretty small co-owner who might need a hand getting the dingy motor on deck. The only issue I see is that there is precious little room for the lift. I cannot see the base in the picture on your web site. Could you explain how it works? I'd like to rig something up. Thanks. Justin - O'day Owner's Web

Motor davit

Greetings Justin!: We understand the difficulty of mounting a base where there is little space to do so. For this reason, the base mount on the motor davit is small - a 1" x 2.5" rectangle. Also, the base is a swivel mount so that it can be mounted on a surface of any angle without the need for shims or special fittings. It is a sheer (side) load on that mount so it does not realy need to be very large in order to do the job. Any motor davit needs to stand up perpendicular in order to work properly, so selecting a good mounting location where the rail is directly over the base mount location usually winds up being the challenge. We offer, and I believe our competitors do also, a variety of mounts and/or spacers etc. so that it is a simple matter to accommodate a wide variety of mounting situations.

To Mike thomas: I gather that your company makes the motor lifts that you described. Do you have an outlet in San Diego? Jerry
