Well here is the funny tory about our first time out. I had just bought the cat 22 and was dieing to check it out. Put it in the water with out even putting the mast up just to check for leaks and see how it roade on the water. I had not been out for 17 years allthough I grew up on small boats in the coastal waters of Alaska. My wife and I fired up the old suzuki 9.9 that came with the boat and it took off on the first pull. We just had to go for a ride. We looked funny running with out the mast but we were on the water again. we cruised around for about 20 mins until the boat just died. I primed and pulled and nothing happed that first pull motor just would not start. Just when it looked like we were going to have to call for atow i looked down and noticed that the gas can looked like a pop can that had the middle squished out of it. Ok Now i remember open the vent. Woosh went the air and one pump on the primer buld then one pull and the engine fired right up and away we went. The cruise contingued. We now Sail with the mast and sail up. But we had to learn the hard way on the vent.

Been there

We all learn from our mistakes. That's why God gave us teenagers... to learn patience.
