Instead of my life lines tied off and need re-adjusted all the time I tied aprusic knots and just slide up as the rope stretches

I'm confused. Do you mean jack lines, or the wire ropes that run between stanchions?

I wonder why do your lifelines need readjusting often? What are they made of?
Lifelines are not supposed to stretch (much). If yours do, perhaps they are made of the wrong material, or maybe they are beyond their useful life (common on a lot of our older boats)? The only time I adjust mine is to loosen them to disconnect the pelican hook, so I can help someone aboard or to lower the line, so I can carry something heavy aboard. By the way, and someone will correct me if I am wrong, low stretch dyneema line is being used in place of wire rope in lifelines, and, I have trouble saying this, stays. I read a little on it and saw a strength test on youtube where the dyneema line of the same size as the wire rope outperformed the wire rope! I am getting ready to replace my lifelines, and I plan to use the new line.

I don't use wire rope between stations, 7/16 rope. I don't like sag in my rope so as it becomes wet or someone pushes on them they will sag. With this set up rather than un-tieing I can slide them tight or loose. As someone certified in rope rescue I absolutely trust a prusic with my life or others life

Lifelines terminated with a length of lashed dyneema is SOP on many boats, including our First 260.

I heard it mentioned recently that dyneema has UV longevity issues. Anyone else heard anything like that, or a source to refute or confirm it?

I know dynamic rope is used for rescuing and any climbing in our area, my instructor tested this rope as a fireman, using as a door mat rapped in circles and it load tested for 10 years as both, I do and will trust it forever to hold several tons for as long as you want, it will stretch but as far as falling that's good, kinda like a shock, but it will tighten and never cut, break or be shot thru by the pirates, lol

Interesting. I've been in Mountain Rescue and have done rope rescue for several years. Although we climb with dynamic (high stretch) rope, our rescue ropes are all static (low stretch).
