Just got an Capri 18 1988. It has a short shaft outboard mounted to a three position motor mount. I have more control of the boat when it is in the 2nd lowered position but the mount is 80 % under water and makes a big wake! Is it a normal deal to run it that far down in the water and make a wake like that. It looks like I can move the mount up on the transom about 3 to 4 more inches, have also thought about a new motor with a 20" shaft, my Johnson is an older 2 stroker! sorry could not resist"

Thanks

Joe

I've got a Capri 22 with a 2 position mount. I have the same issue with part of the mount dragging. I'm planning to cut or grind another pair of cut outs for the pins so I can raise it about 2 - 3 inches. I've got a Merc 4cycle 4 hp long shaft.

I thought about raising the mount but I really don't want to make more holes and it already blocks the stern light when it's raised.

I know what mean about drilling new holes, I hate that as well. By the way, I love the look of your 22.
