Morse dual lever controller lever question

Hi all
i have a 1980 Cat 27, inboard diesel 5411 engine, with Morse dual lever Engine controller
The current throttle set up is Push to slow down / Pull to accelerate which is counterintuitive for ME (I’m sure plenty of you are ok with it)
Has anyone found a way to modify to Push to Accelerate?

Thx all

The controls should be agnostic as to which side of the cockpit on which the control is located.

If you open it up, it is likely that there is another possible position for attaching the control cable. Move the cable so that it works the way you want it. There may be a cam or wheel.

The gear shift lever will have 2 wings to do the same thing.

I actually looked at the control gear. The throttle cable is attached to a wheel so as you mentioned there might be a way to switch the cable anchor point on the wheel.
but there s a indent on the wheel that serves a purpose and if I move the cable then the indent will lose its function

thx a lot!

What does the indent do currently?

My boat has an inboard gas and my Dock neighbour has inboard diesel. Both have the exact same dual lever control. One is mounted starboard, one is mounted port.
They have indents that serve no purpose at all. After some discussion with other owners on a mailing list, apparently the indent was just a design feature unrelated to a specific boat. In some cases the mfg used it for a reason, in others it is just there, but has nothing to do with the specific engine.

Next spring I plan on dismantling the controls. Not only to solve the loose throttle handle, but also to see if i can.adjust the indent position so that it is a "cold startup" preset for this engine.

The indent may simply be a reference point or for starting a gas engine the max throttle for starting, like the mark on an outboards throttle.

That is my assumption. I would assume it's location is adjustable. A rotating round plate with a notch maybe.
Using just the cable adjuster would make it near impossible to make the notch where it should be.

sorry for late reply. Was working on the boat today.
So the indent serves a specific role: when pushing all the way forward, you hit the indent and you are at the lowest rpm. If you go pass the indent the engine seems to go to some kind of idle....
Not sure if it's idle but it's definitely a one-speed position, meaning no subtle play with rpm

Now that I am writing, I realize this could be the "safe" idle position to maneuver the bat... Set it and then worry about shiffter?.....

Could it be a rpm set point indicating that it is safe to change gears?

It could totally be that actually and probably a quick way to decelerate to the right rpm because pushing the lever to the minimum rpm is actually the way to stop the engine.
