Morgan 32 Cutlass Bearing

I need to replace the cutlass bearing in my 1985 Morgan 32ft sailboat.
I really want to source the parts before I get the boat out of the water. Is there a way of identifying the sizes for the bearing from the Hull# or do i have to get the boat out of the water, remove it and measure.

Unless the information is logged in your owner's manual, you probably will have to pull the boat to measure the cutlass bearing. You need to know the shaft diameter, the length of the bearing and the outside dimension of the bronze body that snuggly fits into the strut or whatever you have that holds that bearing in place. Then you can go to your local marine dealer and you will find the part which will have some cool name like Albacore. There is a name for each size cutlass bearing on the market.
