More Westerbeke 10-two questions

Thanks to all who have been so helpful on past inquiries - i have a few additional questions regarding my old 10-2 (new to me):

PO said to not use synthetic oil and mentioned “she needs viscosity” and said not to use any conditioners or additives to fuel (other than an algae additive) - is there a concensus on additives and synthetics? I imagine there may be many differing opinions? Guage indicates 557 hours

Also I noticed no fluid coolant resevoir in lazarette - shouldn’t this be filled to level indicator? PO never added coolant previously.

Other than cold start issues (that i’m currently remedying), she runs well upto 2300-2500 rpms - continued use at 2500 rmps or above results in additional smoke(load smoke),water temp increases (although under 170f but i back it off at that point), and oil pressure increases to 80-85 psi (possibly more but i don’t push her). Is she just not strong enough to push a Hunter 28.5 at 2800-3000 rpms?

This sounds like the boat is not propped correctly, i.e., the pitch and diameter may be incorrect. The size of the boat is less important than the load caused by the prop.

The motor should run to it’s hp rating RPM. Typically 3000 or 3600. Generally cruise at 75 to 80% of that. If your motor doesn’t reach it’s rated rpm and all else is good it’s likely overproped.

Is there a Heat Exchanger? If I recall correctly it is on the port side of the motor at the top of the motor.

It has a folding prop - other than that i have no idea what it is
