More vented loop questions

Peggie I have a Cat 36. I think it may need more vented loops in the discharge lines. I'd like your opinion. Currently, the line runs directly from the toilet bowl to the holding tank. Then a line runs directly from the tank to a Y-valve (possibly a T, I can't remember). There a line goes to a thru-hull and another to a deck pump-out. No where is there a vented loop. I think there should be one between the toilet bowl and the tank, and another between the thru-hull and the tank. Is this right? Thanks

You really only NEED one vented loop

Between the thru-hull and the macerator that dumps your tank. However, If the location of the tank and/or the inlet fitting on it makes it likely for sewage to run back toward the toilet when you're heeled, it certainly wouldn't be a bad idea to have one between the head and the tank...or at least a high arch in that line. Where boats are the most vulnerable is the head INTAKE line if the bowl below the boat's waterline. Water isn't supposed to be able to get past the toilet's dry/flush valve when the valve is left on "dry." But those valves have very high failure rate...people forget and leave turned to "flush"...people will sail with the seacock open, especially if the d'd thing is in an inaccessible place...and water outside the boat will seek its own level inside the boat any time it can. Therefore a vented loop in the head intake is almost essential on any boat that has a toilet below the waterline. It has to go between the pump and bowl...if you put it between the thru-hull and the pump it interferes with the pump's ability to prime.
