SO how much mast bend and rake to the 28.5's need to be fast? How have you set up a Back Stay Adjuster? Cliff

I'm pretty sure there are some posts in the archives re: racing the 28.5. As indicated before, the prebend should be done with the mast down accordoing to the formula. Mast rake should be adjusted to each indivdual boat. I will tell you that my 28.5 will sail upwind with little or no weather helm (the way I preer it). It is not the fastest boat but is respectable. I think that sail condition is the most important thing you should be concerned with if you are going to race.

28.5 bend

The boat yard rigger puts about 6" pre-bend in my 87' 28.5, boat is pretty well balanced. I havn't tried any other settings. tom
