More on the leak. Apparently, it's coming from the ballast tank; but only when the boat is leaned over (not just heeled while sailing; but when you step on the side rail to get in or out of the boat. I discovered the source of the water because of the distinct smell of bleach- which I added to kill off the bad odor from the ballast tank. My second revelation came after mopping up the water and waiting and watching for 30 minutes without a drip. Then I left the boat and got on the dock to check something on my neighbor's boat. When I got back, there was a tablespoon or so of water on the port side of the boat between the (get a load of this description) forward most settee storage bin and the storage bin beneath the V berth. No sign of how it got there- no drop or stream of water. It was just there. Then I went topside and stood on the side of the boat for 5 minutes. When I went back down, there was a bigger pool of water and it had started to run into the V berth storage. So where does it come from? Is there a vent hole somewhere under the cabin sole between the cabin sole and the ballast tank? I worried about maybe the thru- hull bolts that secure the centerboard may be leaking; but, as I said, it is definitely ballast tank water.

Drilled holes

Hi, in my boat I found drilled holes on the starboard side - and they were poorly tightened with silicon. And that made water come out of the tank only when the boat leaned over to the starbord side. The former owner had installed a cooling device for the ice-box and screwed it on top of the ballasttank. Now it's properly sealed. Toomas
