I recently asked about replacing my holding tank vent hose and was rewarded by advice from the Headmistress and others. I'm taking their words to heart and replacing the hose with a larger diameter one (1", if possible). The problem is how do I replace the fitting on the tank to do this? There are only three penetrations into the tank, from the toilet, to the pump out, and the vent, pictured. Help!!

Install a new tank fitting...it's easy to do

Thanks to a li'l doodad called the UniSeal http://www.aussieglobe.com/uniseal1.htm (read ALL the pages to see instructions and pricing). Use a hole saw to cut a very smoooth hole...use a short piece of 1" OD (OUTER diameter--to fit into a 1" hose) PVC pipe for the hose barb. Use a piece long enough to double clamp it. Remove your existing threaded vent fitting and replace with a threaded plug wrapped with plenty of Teflon tape to create a good seal.

Thanks, Peggy

Thanks, that's a great item to know about. I had dismissed the idea of a larger vent hose due to the connection problem. I'll re-consider. However, do you also need a larger vent exit thru the hull?
