Sorry to bring everybody down but, I just got back from a post-op dr. visit and was told that some of the nerves had snapped and I will have to have more hand surgery this Wed. The Dr. said that this time it will be more involved in that, what I need (will) to have done is a nerve graft. They will take nerves from the top of my hand and graft it into my thumb and area. This operation I am told works 2 out of 3 times. That I will lose some feeling in the top of my hand and may not get the feeling back in my thumb but, I "should" regain the use of my thumb. Also, I will not be able to use my hand (at all)for a year and that I should expect surgery one more time in 6 months. Mean while, I will keep my chin up and focus on sailing (my) boat in 6-7 months. I thank all of you for all of your support, it really, really is keeping me going at this time. I will try to update everybody thurs. or Friday depending on how I feel. Thanks again. Steve, s/v NOETA (P323)

Keep your Chin Up

Steve, Keep your chin up and keep a positive attitude. A positive attitude can overcome a lot of obstacles. We are all behind you.

If it wasn't for bad news you wouldn't have any!

Steve: If it wasn't for bad news you wouldn't have any news. Wow, I hope this does not hurt as much as I feel the hurt for you. Everytime I think about you doing this I can almost feel it. I really do hope that they can put most of your hand back to the way it was working before the accident.

Steve, I've gotta feeling you will give a new

meaning to "single handed sailing" way before your hand is all done. Somehow you will be sailing that boat about 10 minutes after "spring breakup". And since Steve is willing to bet a beer on just about anything I'll bet him one over this. You'll get to be the "bar keep". Hang in there guy, you've got a rough one, but in the end it's just another adventure. That's what sailing is all about. Ray S/V Speedy
