OK, so now I've got a handle on all the toys and their SW, and are having fun. Made of video of last night's race, with views from two cameras interstitched into the video. Very easy to do once you figure out the workflow. AND have a fast machine with lotsa RAM and SSD storage.

In this race we hit 9+ knots sustained for over 30 seconds. Fun to see a 'cruiser' like BlueJ plane with the best of them!

very nice... I wish our local beer can races were spin. I quit doing them because I couldn't stand the futility of trying to eke out another tenth of knot of speed downwind, wing on wing in 5 knots true on a muggy summer night.

Its funny, but our two Thursday evening series (collectively the Summer Series) has turned into the most prestigious Cup at WYC. Its used to be the two Sunday afternoon series (Champions) but changes in people's leisure habits now have twice as many boats out on Thursday vs Sunday.

And I agree. What's the point of sailing upwind if you can't use a spinnaker coming downwind?

Not to mention the fact that the newer boat designs like mine with swept back spreaders and non/barely overlapping jibs are just slow as molasses downwind without flying a spinnaker or cruising zero.

I feel your pain. Anytime the wind is aft of the beam we're looking for the right kite to launch!

Great video and nice editing. Rum Race 5 tomorrow on Galveston Bay, I may have to put out four cameras and download some new music to try to do almost as good. But, no way we'll even get close to nine knots.

Your vids are great. For me, the neat part of the Quik SW is that it makes the video creation easy. Before I discovered it, I just had 40gig of video, most of it boring. I’d grab a 30 second part and put it up. Now I scrub and click on the cool parts, and the app does the rest. It takes longer to upload than it does to make.

I'm gonna try that next when I go diving /spearfishing next week. I got a gopro just for diving when they were the hottest things. But I have hours of boring footage with the occasional cool thing lasting a couple of seconds like a tiger shark getting friendly or an eagle ray gliding by. Posted all that stuff on youtube and never watched it again.
