I think the current economy will be changing the way boat manufacturers and dealers operate. The day's of a dealer ordering several new boats for their inventory based on speculation are soon to be gone. Instead it will be "build on order" which is going to reduce the discounts that are presently available. For those who have financial stability, and some folks do, now is the time to strike a deal. Dealer inventories are bloated, loan rates, while difficult to qualify for, are respectively low and manufacturers are throwing in discounts to help move inventory. For those who don't, hang on and watch the values in the used boat market. I'd expect to see changes in the value of used boats. Currently they're depressed but I'd not be surprised to see them rebound with the economy. There will be value in having a boat someone want's now vs waiting to have it built. The boating world is changing around us and likely never going back to today's model that's for sure.
