I am on a lake in northern NJ that gets very busy. My yacht club has a limit on their finger slip to 21 feet so I am going to try and put my H23 on the end of a concrete pier using whips. I was told that on the weekends there is a lot of wake that will hit the boat broad side.

Here are the whips that I bought on ebay, seems like a fantastic deal..Any conerns that pop up, or experiences that could be helpful.

I am thinking that a sailboat with a fixed lead keel may not get knocked around as much as a power boat....

Any thought and pictures from people who use mooring whips would be VERY helpful.

My neighbor had wips for his 24' ChrisCraft when I lived on the Gulf of Mex. His wips kept his boat off the dock with no problems, even in a heavy on shore breeze, and waves. This however didnt keep him from still putting his fenders on between the dock and boat.

I don't use whips (I'm on a mooring), but I can say that the wakes from powerboats (or a good windy day) toss my 23 around a good deal when I tie up on the end of the floating dock to load/unload. So much that the fenders get lifted up above the dock top surface, and the hull bangs against the dock. I am trying to get the marina to put padding on the dock edge.
