I have a 26.5 which I keep on a mooring. Twice last year I arrived at the boat to find one of my mooring lines cut in two. Finally figured out that they were being cut by the metal tube which runs through the float and sticks out the bottem. The lines sink and wrap around the chain then rub against the tube. Question:What to use to float the line. I would like to use poly line but do not think it is strong enough. What do you think?????

here is what i do

i run the chain through the mooring ball to a big shackle on top of the ball then the line for the mooring runs from this shackle i had a special line made for this its 1 " it has a loop spliced in it with large thimble that attatches to the shackle at the ball then it has another piece of 1" spliced into it about 3' from the thimble this forms a y then they both have loops at each end to attatch to the mooring cleats then i attatch a mooring whip bouy to the splice at the y looks something like this 0 0 <--- TO BOAT ) ( ) ( ) ) ) O <---- TO BALL
