So I am knew at this. My Knot Meter needle seems to get stuck at about 3 1/2 knot mark. It is a sealed unit as in as far there are 4 rivets that hold the unit together to the back plate. If I take it out of the wall of the boat and remove the rivets, what am I looking to do? Does the needle pin need to be oiled? I assume there are some gears to be oiled? Anyone taken one of these apart?

So solely out of interest, if anyone might be so inclined or if someone has the same issue but won't own up to it, here is what I found. I removed the unit from the boat, drilled out the two rivets holding the instrument to the casing. Removed the instrument and found the clock face to be warped. I inserted an O ring made to fit the interior of the glass and re installed the instrument, bringing light pressure to the outer circumference of the face plate and inserted self tapping crews into the casing once it was aligned with the tabs for the instrument. The test will be this weekend when I hook it back up. The needle current moves freely.

The needle current moves freely.

Sorry, that should have read "the needle currently moves freely with no binding"

Worked perfectly today. Made adjustments using the calibration screw and my GPS. I also cleaned out the turbo paddle and made sure it was inserted back in the correct direction. The folks at Moor helped me with describing how the water needs to be scooped by the paddle. BIG SMILE ON MY FACE TODAY!
