Today, the Moon, Venus, and Mercury were visible. Mercury is the faint object just above the tree line. The star Spica (great sailing on that planet) is the faint object between Venus and Mercury and to the right.

Nikon D700 (Full Frame DSLR)
Nikkor 70~210mm (70mm f4)
1 Sec. exposure ISO 200
Tripod mounted

Note: the brightness of the moon is due to the sunlight reflecting off the face of the Earth. This is visible with the naked eye but enhanced here due to the time exposure of the camera.

Tomorrow, the Moon will be just above Mercury. Next week the Moon will meet Mars, plus, it will transit Jupiter and Saturn which are visible at dusk in the south western sky.
