FYI--As of this season, there was no fuel dock in Monroe Harbor in Chicago. This is old news if you went there this summer, but if you are planning a trip to Chicago next summer you should know that the situation is (if you will pardon the pun) fluid. As of the last time I dropped by Ye Olde Rumor Mill, they are planning to put fuel on the same (public) dock as the pumpouts and water hoses. If you sail Chicago, you will know that this dock is crowded in the AM with tie-offs, and popular with the pumpout crowd the rest of the day. With large boats going there for fuel (the Chicago Yacht Club is there, and it gets some monster power yachts), the dock will be a madhouse next summer. Also be aware that the long-promised facilities (harbor master's office, toilets and showers for those on cans, etc.) has been finished but not yet accepted.Other than that, the festivals and fireworks during the summer are great, and if you are planning a cruise, Chicago is a wonderful destination.PS--If you are able to, get a can in the north part of the harbor--the south part and the empty cans near the entrance and channel get a lot of chop.
