When I pulled my 19996 29.5 boat out of winter storage, the nornally bright white fiberglass had turned a light grey as if someone had done a bad paint job over it. No cleaner or Acetone would change it. After a few panic striken days, the Marina told me the fiberglass had a mold or fungas and a few days in the sun would burn it out. Sure enough, it did. Has anyone heard or seen this before? Does anyone know what causes it? Will it come back?

Try Gel coat and plastics forum?

with your permission I'll move this post over there so Jim Willis with Island Girl can take a crack at itr. Let me know if that's OK by you.

Straight household bleach sprayed on your hull with a plastic bottle spayer will kill the mold instantly, then a thorough water rinsing, and you're all set. Then I also recommend Island Girl cleaner/conditioner, as your gel coat is obviously porous, to clean deeply inside the micro crevices, and fill and seal with their wax product (easier), or any other good wax.
