molded vs. welded tanks

Can holding tanks be welded polyuethelene? (the stock tanks are molded polyurethelene.) Is there too much danger of leaks? (The fittings are attached via a welding process)I could get a much larger tank if I had one made special... even Ronco doesn't have an optimum fit for the space I am considering.

Welded poly tanks are as strong as

the quality of the welds and the skill of the welder makes 'em. Poor welds made by an unskilled welder means a leaking tank...thick (at least 3/8") walls and strong welds without air bubbles and other problems caused by a lack of welding skills will produce a tank that will last as long as a good quality seamless tank.Btw...I THINK by "polyuethelene" you really mean polyethylene.

Beware welded tanks from Dura-cast in Florida

I had a tank welded by these folks and in their zeal to make it look good they ground away at the welded corners to make them clean and round. They ground thru in numerous places and I had multiple leaks. Obviuosly they did not pressure test after this procedure. I would request that they pressure test and not try to pretty up the welds afterwards.
