Peter,
I plan on using bilge paint in the chair locker and under the water tank. Any thoughts on how that will hold up? How about using it in the lockers?
Thanks,
Ric

Some paint dealers can add a 'mildew-cide" to paints and stains. Our neighbor had mildew-cide added to her stain that she used on the outside of her cabin in the woods and hasn't had any issues since coat was applied.

You can buy a little container of the mildewcide in paint stores, to add to paint. Works great in bathrooms.

Journeyman developed a pretty bad mildew problem and I wiped down with bleachy water, did things to increase the ventilation, added ni-cad powered solar vents, etc. Then is occurred to me the problem might just stem from my old leaky window seals (which kept the bunk cushions more or less damp) and leaking chain plates etc.

I replaced the window seals and I rebedded almost all the deck hardware and basically got rid of all deck leaks and now I have a nice dry boat. Lesson learned, in my opinion.Nicholas H. Walsh P.A.

Thanks one and all for the input.....the boat got a little wet this winter, but is dry now.......I've cleaned out most of the mold, but want it to be gone for good and not recur....I have a solar powered vent fan and the rest of the ventilation is in place, i should check the archives for articles on the ventilation system......
