Does anyone know what would cause the cabintop balsa(between interior & exterior cabin top) to get wet (15-25%moisture reading)? Is this a common problem on Hunter's (or any other sailboats for that matter?) Is this issure of major concern? The rest of the boat tests OK for moisture. Thanks for any replies.

The source has to be found and fixed. Then you will receive lots of advice on how to repair the damage. Or even whether to repair. Somewhere in the photo forum there is a series of pictures showing side decks being repaired. Same drill for you I am afraid.

Leak or condensation?
If not a leak, it can also be caused by condensation due to the temperature differential between the interior/exterior of the boat in a cold climate. Assuming you are measuring the moisture content now, recognize the temperature variation between the interior of the boat and ambient conditions often can cause moisture to condense and collect in the lining or core regardless of whether or how well the boat is covered. If the boat is well ventilated or you have some other means of precluding interior condensation from forming, the cause would be a leak as Ed already said. Is the boat covered well?
