I am going to buy an 1980 O'Day 22'. I have an 18' Ski boat trailer that I want to modify for the boat. I don't have the funds for an expensive weld job. Does anyone have any advice or done this themselves? Thanks

Thanks very much. That is just what I was looking for. I hope I can count on you for future help because I have no clue about sailing ither than it is something I have always dreamed of doing.

The best way to learn sailing is to----

take lessons, I guess, but I learned all about sailing by reading books from my public library. Judging wind direction by letting the wind hit my face never really did it for me. I needed a wind indicator for my boat so I went out and bought a Davis Windex and a 12" extension bracket to mount it on, at the top of my mast. So this is what I've always recommended to new sailors. I think that you'll find the O'Day 22 a very stable and forgiving boat to learn on. You're never too old to learn. I started learning to sail in my 40s. So, while you're getting your trailer set up, check out the sailing section in your town library, and start the learning process. Smooth Sailing! Joe
