I am trying to sell my dad's 19 foot O'Day (Mariner, I believe). I have a manual that came with it from 1972 but the insurance policy says '86. The policy also says the ID number is 22405. Based on the number can anyone help me determine what year she is? Sure looks more like a '72 than a '68 to me Thanks much, Mary Jo (C22 owner)

1972 numbers
The class numbers for 1971 are 2054 - 2261 with only 207 Mariners built that year. If your number is indeed 22405 then the boat may indeed be a 1986. I will do further research and post any findings.

Also, the pre 1969 boats had an open cuddy back, I think. Then in that year they closed the back, added a sliding hatch, with hatchboards in the companionway, an opening forward hatch over the v berth, and had 4 berths rather than 2, hence the designation 2 + 2. The additional 2 berths were quarter berths extending aft under the cockpit seats. The necessitated raised cockpit seats (stepped) near the forward part of the cockpit. The post 1969 models also had a sink, port a potti, cooler and water tank. Given this information, can you identify if it is a pre or post 1969 model? There should also be a hull identification number (HIN) imbedded in the hull, near the lower gudgeon of the rudder fitting on the outside of the transom.

72 Mariner
I own a 1972 Mariner and have had it for three years now. The fellow that sold it to me thought it was a 1976 but I found out after I registered it that it was indeed a 1972.
