Incredibly moving story and video. I'm not second guessing or criticizing but I wonder why he wasn't harnessed and tethered to the vessel.

Thanks for posting it up Rick. It made me realize how lucky we were during the Fort Lauderdale - Key West race when we got hit by a sudden gust while jibing the spinnaker and lost control of the boat, going through several accidental jibes in now 25 knots of wind. It was 3 AM and the off-watch crew, of which I was, scrambled on deck to help, no harness or pfd, not thinking about our own safety. We got lucky and nobody was lost overboard or injured but we still count our blessings.
