After trouble shooting, it looks like I need to replace my mixing elbow on my 89 33.5/2GM20F. Does anyone have any helpful tricks to removing this part. It's located quite far back. Phil

if it is like mine (YSM12)

on my Hunter 30' 1979 YSM12 First, you need to unbolt everything under the hatch to get to the engine. You will then find a flange bolted with three bolts to the engine block. Remove the 3 bolts and scrape the old gasket off the engine. There are three parts to this- Flange, tube with external threads and the section that goes in the exhaust hose- Replace all three plus new gasket. Also, now is the time to work on the sink if you have any problems as the side has been removed to get to the engine. Good luck

Mine was easy

Mine was easy on my 2001 2GM20F four bolts and double hose clamps on exhaust hose next comes the hard part taking the elbo pipe from the mixing elbo which has reverse treads. I have taken mine apart the last three years and cleaned it out so it was not hard to take apart, you need some big tools if it has not been taken apart for a few years and some times they can't always be cleaned out and just replace with new,you might need a shop to take it apart,I also had plenty of room to work on in the engine compartment. nick

I would remove the exhaust hose

first, with the elbow still attached to the engine. Then remove the water inlet hose, and finally remove the elbow in one piece. I have replaced all three pieces and the gasket twice in 15 years. And I feel that is the best way to go.
