I have a 1974 Hunter 25 with deep draft (3'11") and recently lost my rudder due to corrosion. Does anyone know if the rudder that Fossfoam sells for a 1978 25 will fit? If not, has anyone lost a rudder, and how did you fix it? Thanks, Arthur Martin e-mail at marine04@scti.net

Rudders falling or breaking off old 25s appears to be quite common. THe original rudder was already missing when I bought my 74 model 25. I fabricated one one from plywood and epoxy with 2" od stainless tubing for the rudder post. There have been several other post about missing rudders. Check the archives. I tried Fossfoam and was told that they didn't make a rudder for the 25. However, I think the rudder is the same. I've looked at newer models in the boat yards and it appears that the deck mold changed but the hull keel and rudder are consistent throughout all model years. So, if Fossfoam makes one I think it will work. You could try Hunter but I wouldn't expect much help with an older boat. Good luck!
