Manual or Electric/ Electric or Manual.

Val: The obvious advantage of an electric bilge pump is obvious. When you are away the pump can keep your bilge dry (as long as you have a charged battery). The problem with the electric pump is when you are out of juice. There is no way to pump unless you have both. Being that your boat is an outboard, I think that I'd opt for a manual pump. There are several inexpensive units that work very well.

Pump Stumped . . .

Val, I've always been of the mind you need both. The float switched electric pump is to keep your bilge dry from the normal accumulation of fluids like condensation, the packing shaft gland and spilled drinks. A good fixed mounted hand pump, on the other hand, is for survival . . . Nick "Julia Bell" #86
