I need help or advice with a minor leak coming from my 5 gallons water heater manufactured by Kuuma products. I have attached pics of the fitting / valve where the water leaks from. All pics are the same valve. In one of the pics, you will see my finger pointing out at the black washer from where the water comes out of. The metal piece where you will see my finger pointing at can move. I can push or pull on it and make it travel a bit. It is not a full on splash, it is only a few drops at a time every few minutes.
Today, I put the water pump on and there was no drips. The water heater has been off a few days so water is cold. Perhaps it is not expanding. It seems it start leaking when the water is hot.

I contacted Kuuma products and sent pics, but they were not able to assist as according to them the fitting valve was installed by hunter.
Thanks for any help

Call

I have a 2007 36 Hunter and have not noticed what I have,Hunter does change things from time to time but a call to Hunter or the dealer should help you out before you try taking it apart yourself.

Is there some reason why: A) you have not taken the fitting apart ; or B) Had the Hunter people look at it since it is a 2009 boat?

Possible that washer was supposed to be inside the fitting or it is a spare.

I worked for a Hunter dealer for quite a while and those connections on the HW heater were a pain and always leaking. You need to contact your dealer and have them fix it. Chuck

Could that be a thermostatic valve? I had issues with mine, no hot water. After looking thru all my mauals 10 times I found one for that valve, a single sheet, that has detailed instructions.

The black "washer" could be a ferrule. A ferrule should go inside the nut. I suppose you meant the tubing can move, if that is so, then I suspect you're missing a ferrule inside the nut or the nut wasn't tight enough or (and it do happen in my industry) the ferrule is place wrong way around (those familiar with Swagelok fittings would understand).
