We have a new 380. Took ownership last October. We take the boat out every one or two weeks and the last time we were there, we had no refrigeration. We have shore power and leave the unit on while away, set to about 3. It is a Supercold Machine. Needles to say all was melted. My husband climbed down into the aft locker and took a good look at the unit. Wiring seems all secure and tight. He found two batteries (a 5 and 15 amp, I think) and they looked good. Am not sure where to look for a problem now. He thinks the next place would be in the round setting knob, but how to test it? We're new at the boat owner business. So we would be grateful for any help.

380 fridge not working

First you need to determine if the compressor is running. (It should be drawing approx. 5 amps and you will feel a slight vibration if it is running)If the compressor IS running, then the problem lies with the refrigerant charge. If it is not running, check the thermostat first. "jump it out" by crossing the two wire leads together. If the compressor starts and cools you have found the problem. There are several other things to look for. If you call the factory (860)664-4911), we can discuss this in more detail.

Reply to Bill Thomas

Thanks for the response Bill. I have sent a copy of what you said to Keith Stone, who is the sales rep that sold us the boat out of Admiralty Yachts. I expect him to be going down to the boat and checking things out, and so thought that your name and number would be a good thing for him to have. He's pretty much of a "handy man", so he probably knows exactly what you are talking about. I showed your reply to my husband and he also knew what you were talking about, however living over the mountains and 2 hrs away, we need to rely on Keith for right now. Thanks again. Be sure to have Keith contact us if he needs anything at all. We will supply him with any needed parts or advice as you are still well within the warranty period.
