Well, quite a milestone today. We just had the boat trucked cross-country from NY to CA. We hired a 40 ton crane to lift it off the truck and set it down in our driveway. Between a couple of friends, my wife, and myself, we setup keel blocking, home-made boat stands, safety chains, et cetera.
The boat seems relatively secure; everyone else seems to think it is very secure, but of course the buck stops with the captain so I need to be extra sure. I didn't buy jackstands originally since I thought the boat would be in the backyard on grass. The homemade stands/cradle had a better chance of not sinking into the soil as jackstands surely would have. We ended up putting it in the driveway though, so jackstands would work better now. We'll probably pick up 4 tomorrow to place on the sides and give added safety.
